The rant continues

Today the rant continues. K started cleaning out her desk and brining things home that she did not use this year. Well A LOT of things are coming home unused. What a waste of money. Maybe next years teacher will need some of the same things and I can recycle!

Just save the stuff and she can take it next year. I know what you mean about the whole thing. Michael and I are starting to look at that here and trying to figure out what to do. Do we send her to a public school or a charter school? what are the fees for both and are the schools even worth it. I have always said I wouldn't home school (for both of our sakes!!) but sometimes I wonder...

Wait - what am I saying - no I don't - I need the few hours a vaca a day!!! good luck with the fees. I will listen to your rant this year and then you can pay me back next year!!!

My favorite "waste" is lunchtime. I pay $1.55 and he takes a couple of bites and throws it away . . . like the rest of the kids . . . because they don't have time to eat!!! In the Winter, they come to the lunch room in their coats, hats and gloves to EAT because they have recess right after. They are only allowed 20 minutes and that includes waiting in line to get your food. AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!

Other than that . . . I LOVE my son's school!!!

That's annoying, but at least she gets to bring them back. Here, the kids' teachers collect everything and it goes into a communal "pot" of stuff for the classroom, so you never know if it gets used or get it back. :-/

The only reason we got things back was because I put her name on EVERYTHING I sent. In permanent marker!

Funny (SAD!)- I thought public education was free??? What happens to the kids who can't afford it? I taught in Delano, and I can tell you now that my room would've been empty. We couldn't ask the kids for anything, and the school gave us a budget- it;s hard to have to decide between pencils and tissues, so we all just "donated" our own money to stock our rooms. I'd freak if I had to pay a registration and book rental fee- that's usually for private schools.
