When it Rains... People Kayak in the drainage overflow?

It has been raining cats and dogs her in IL. We had a lot of rain last week but that was nothing in comparison to what we got just last night. It started raining about 7:00 and did not stop until this afternoon. We got a total of 6 inches at our house in our very official State Farm rain gauge. All of our creeks and retention ponds are at the max I think right now, and lots of people have flooded basements. Several families were not in church today because they were either cleaning basements or stranded from flooded streets. In our neighborhood we have a park that has kind of an overflow area. It's quite big and usually is just swampy and wet. Well today on the way to church we drove by and it was almost filled to the top and there were people kayaking on it. It was so funny we had to go back for the camera. I guess when life gives you flooding... Kayak!
You can barely see the kayakers I should have zoomed in more, but in my defense it was pouring and I was in my church clothes.

Wow glad to here you guys are dry though. Flooded basements are the worst. We had some rain here but nothing like what you guys had. Hopefully you will have a few good days of sunshine.

Today we went to our new ward.  We still have one more week in our current ward but we just wanted to check it out, get our faces known, and possibly drum up some help to unload a moving truck in a couple weeks. Today is Chris Birthday! I'm awful about making plans and doing things for him so this year I have tried my best to be better. We are having a small party if you will , with some friends tonight and having his favorite apple cake with caramel topping. Sometimes life changes and we are all trying to catch up

From day one I could tell there was something different about L...he is my 4th child and right from the start I could tell.  I didn't know I could tell.  I knew he was different from my other kids but I didn't have a clue as to why, or what our future would bring. L was my most sweet baby.  All babies are sweet you say, all babies are different.  I know all babies are sweet but I mean this baby was SWEET.  He slept through the night almost from day one, to a mom 6 hours is like an eternity so I'm calling it through the night.  He rarely cried.  When he did and all the normal boxes were checked, feeding, changing, hot/cold, he just wanted to be left alone.  He would lay for hours on the floor on a blanket and watch life happen.  Then he would just fall asleep and take a nap and it was wonderful.  Being a mom of many kiddos it was like this baby was sent to me on purpose to make it easy.  Usually I have a baby and think "I'm not eve...
