Happy Groundhog Day

I didn't even know today was Groundhog Day to be honest. I guess when you are not in the 1st grade it's just another day. When you ARE in 1st grade it's a big deal, just so you know. O was talking about it all morning. After she left for school C ran over to the art table and began drawing, like he does most days. Today he brought me a picture of a little brown animal with a big huge brown scribble above it. Mostly he has to explain his pictures to me, he's 5 they are usually filled with smiling faces and lots of things that I can't tell what they are. He proceeded to inform me the animal was the groundhog and the big brown scribble above it was his hole that he had blown up.

Dear C's Kindergarten teacher,

Please do not be alarmed or scared that C has drawn a picture of guns, swords, people dying, blood, guts, or other various disturbing scenes. He really is a great kid and would never harm a fly, or take the school hostage. Please do not expel him I'm sure if we explained that those things are not appropriate for school, and he must keep the violence at home he will understand. I hope this does not go in his "permanent" file!

My nephew wrote stories each month in his Kindergarten class. His teacher was nice and didn't edit his true feelings. At the end of the year he wrote a book about Robots. We particularly loved the picture and captions that explained that the robot was destroying the school and capturing this kid my nephew doesn't like. Needless to say everyone just laughed and no charges were filed. He is navigating 1st grade pretty well this year with no signs of robots destroying things yet.

When we were living in England (where guns are outlawed-even police don't carry them) and Sawyer was in Year 1 (kindergarten)....his class did a lot of creating stuff out of cardboard. Anyways, every single creation he brought home was very obviously a gun. I was always so embarrased because I knew his teachers were thinking "Oh those violent Americans and their GUNS."

Today we went to our new ward.  We still have one more week in our current ward but we just wanted to check it out, get our faces known, and possibly drum up some help to unload a moving truck in a couple weeks. Can I just say it was amazing!  We've been to this ward before when Chris was on the High Council so there were a few familiar faces.  That wasn't the amazing part... Today is Chris Birthday! I'm awful about making plans and doing things for him so this year I have tried my best to be better. We are having a small party if you will , with some friends tonight and having his favorite apple cake with caramel topping. Sometimes life changes and we are all trying to catch up

From day one I could tell there was something different about L...he is my 4th child and right from the start I could tell.  I didn't know I could tell.  I knew he was different from my other kids but I didn't have a clue as to why, or what our future would bring. L was my most sweet baby.  All babies are sweet you say, all babies are different.  I know all babies are sweet but I mean this baby was SWEET.  He slept through the night almost from day one, to a mom 6 hours is like an eternity so I'm calling it through the night.  He rarely cried.  When he did and all the normal boxes were checked, feeding, changing, hot/cold, he just wanted to be left alone.  He would lay for hours on the floor on a blanket and watch life happen.  Then he would just fall asleep and take a nap and it was wonderful.  Being a mom of many kiddos it was like this baby was sent to me on purpose to make it easy.  Usually I have a baby and think "I'm not eve...
