Thing 6
Thing 6 is music:
Music is something that is in my heart from birth I think. I remember my mom cranking up the radio in the car and rockin' out. Music played really loud (I mean heard from the next block) always made cleaning the house easier, still does.
A song can take me back to a place, time or even a person faster than anything else. I can't hear Depeche Mode, or The B52's without sailing back to Stake Dances. Kenny Chesney always reminds me of Chris. The song Who's that Lady, by the Isley Brother's makes me think of puking. Background: There was a commercial on TV when I was preggo with K that used that song, and every morning when I was praying to the porcelain God that commercial came on. Memories don't stop at popular music, the hymns at church can provoke memories just as well. God Be With You Til' We Meet Again, reminds me of a former Bishop and his wife and the day they left our singles ward. The Spirit of God reminds me of the time I went to the Oakland Pageant and felt the power of those words. I walk by Faith, takes my mind to my Young Women years and leaders, the list could go on and on.
I love music however don't get the impression that I am somehow musically inclined, I'm NOT. I can't carry a tune, I don't play an instrument, and dancing, well let's just keep that for in the kitchen while doing dishes not in public. I always feel sorry for the poor soul in front of me at church. So I'll save the singing to those who can, and will continue to enjoy their talents.
