USE YOUR NOODLE

I'm pretty sure that when my children were born the doctor's at the hospital did not inform me of any brain abnormalities.  My kids all learned to crawl, walk, and talk at appropriate ages.  They have gone through several years of school without too much trouble.  They seem to be very smart when it comes to putting Lego's together, or figuring out the DVD player, or using my iPod.  I can carry on an intelligent conversation with them.

Why is it then they seem to have periods of time when they have absolutely NO BRAIN!???!!!  I am not kidding.  Here are some examples:

I asked K to take the garbage out last night.  We were having a blizzard, I mean a REAL blizzard.  So instead of  walking downstairs going through the garage, opening the side door, and tossing the trash sack out without even stepping a foot outside, she decided to go out the back door across the deck, down the stairs, across the back yard, down the side of the house to put it out.  That required her to get all of her snow gear on, get freezing cold, and track snow and ice through the entire kitchen and living room.  All I can say is AAAHHHHH!

Yesterday we were in the middle of a blizzard, O decided that she is going to go to her friends house (3 doors down).  She gets dressed for the day...short sleeved shirt, skirt, cowboy boot with no socks!  WE ARE HAVING A BLIZZARD!!!!!

The diapers are always in the same spot.  If you ask any of my kids (except L, he knows where they are) to bring you a diaper they can NEVER find them.

Today we are shoveling the 3 foot snow drifts in our driveway.  The girls are helping me.  O comes out with no hat, and no gloves on.  I tell her to go put some on.  She puts on knit gloves and proceeds to put her hands in the snow...that was not good.  K takes off her scarf and gloves (that are wet) and proceeds to shovel without those things.  I tell her to get a scarf and gloves on, so she goes and gets THE WET ones and puts them back on then complains that she is cold.  AAAAHHHHHH.

Their lack of using their noodle does not only happen when we have a blizzard.  It can happen any time, any where!  It does not just extend to my female children my boy is just as guilty.  The jury is still out on L, but I'm sure that when he hits about 3 or so his brain will fly out the window too!

The same things have happened at our house, except for the snow. My mother swears that when kids' bodies grow, there is too much of a strain on their bodies for their brains to work properly. I don't know if it's absolute truth, but think how much teenages grow and change, and they are the dumbest of the bunch. ;)

Stay warm!
For sure! In the moment it is always hard to step back and realize they are kids and the only way they will ever learn is through good parents. You and Chris are doing awesome, and eventually their noodle will work, and you will be able to sit back and relax a little. Weather always makes it worse though. ;) Now, just think of those poor children whose parents don't have a noodle...hmm, I try not to think of all the kids that go to school with my son, whose parents have checked out a long time ago. I digress, but what else is new! Try to have a great day indoors, stay warm and sane. ;)
AND it is not gender specific!

This happens at our house, too and I have even been known to be really mean and ask them where their brain is.
