Rejected!

I know I already dedicated a post to breast feeding, well I'm at it again!  I've been successfully keeping the infection away by pumping my milk every other day.  I only have to pump once and it keeps down the um, engorgement.  I don't want to feed CH a bottle yet because he still has a hard time sometimes when he nurses and I don't want him to know that there is another option at this point.  So I've been dumping the milk.  I mentioned this to my friend the other day at church and she sent me a link to a website for a company who takes human milk donations and makes it into human milk fortifier and sells it to hospitals for their NICU's.  I was really excited about this because it seems like such a waste to "pump and dump".

I e-mailed the company a couple of days ago, got the preliminary questionnaire filled out and returned and last night someone from Milkin' Mamas called me back...and rejected my milk!  Every time I am pregnant I need to have a Rhogam shot, this time I also had to have one after CH was born, that in itself removes me from donating milk for 3 months.  Bummer!  I was really hoping that I could put this milk to good use instead of dumping it down the drain.  Oh well I guess in 3 months if I still have the supply I'll try again!

Keep pumping! Sounds like you are one of those awesome moms that produce excessive amounts of milk....which...as you know can make your life icky.
You can always freeze the milk like Stacey said...& use it later for sippy cup feedings. You can actually by pass the bottle by using a small sippy cup (it is terribly messy!) It won't matter if he loses half of it down his shirt cuz lets face it....you are a well spring of milk!

You can always do finger feeding to. You attach an SNS tube to your finger & let him suck away! The finger is the closest thing to a nipple. He will have to use the same technige on your finger to get the milk out as he does on your breast. You can get an SNS at the hospital stores. It has a bottle you hang around your neck

But yeah...you may need to keep pumping like this for awhile until your supply calms down. To avoid engorgment you NEED to get that milk out!
