Finally Winter

Well last winter we bought a snow blower, a big snow blower, and it never snowed.  This winter it has hardly snowed and that poor shiny blower sits in our garage neglected.  Well weekend before last we finally got some snow and Chris was able to use it.  He was so excited that he even blew the neighbors driveway!  We also were lucky enough to travel to Nauvoo and spend the weekend and they got more snow than we did.  We have some friends that bought a rental home in Nauvoo, they still live in California so it is empty most of the winter and they let us use it.  Lucky us!  It is a beautiful home that is huge and fits our family nicely on just the bottom floor.  It's just down the street from the temple so we can leave the kids for a couple hours and attend a session without feeling like we need to rush home.  We ended up driving over to Nauvoo on Friday night and spending the day Saturday.  Our temple session wasn't until 3:00 so we had the morning to run around and play.  It was cold and most of Old Nauvoo was still open so we went to the visitor's center to see what was going on that day.  Much to our surprise and delight they had enough snow to do sleigh rides instead of their usual buggy rides.  They said that they haven't pulled the sleigh out in years and that we were pretty lucky!  I was soooo excited, I've never ridden on a sleigh before and the kids were too.  Like I said it was COLD so we bundled up in quilts.  L kept asking when we were going to fly, and I had to remind him that it wasn't Santa's Sleigh!  It was magical and quiet and lovely and we stayed warm snuggling.  L and CH fell asleep and snored the whole time which made it so much more pleasant for the rest of us.  Here we are in our Sleigh, what a beautiful family!

This was also the first time CH had really seen snow, or gotten to touch it at least.  He was so excited but kept eating it...

We had a lovely rest of our time in Nauvoo playing Wii Bowling and enjoying some yummy food.  When we got home C made us a snowman, complete with mustache!

And this is just a random shot of L who has the cutest ears around!
I've really enjoyed the days of snow but I'm afraid that they are numbered.  It's going to warm up here this weekend, but I guess that will be nice for the kids to get outside and for us to use the new smoker that Chris got for his State Farm anniversary this year!
