Goings on!
The last couple months have been BUSY! We've had family visitors, gone to the pool, swimming lessons, and tons of other things that have kept us hopping!
My parents came to visit in May/June. It was really fun. They stayed for a week. It rained the whole time and that was a bummer but I think it gave us all time to rest and relax before our busy summer started. We watched movies, did craft day, and generally vegged. Dad helped put new flooring in our bathroom so that took a couple days, he also fixed some plumbing issues we had been having in there and that was nice.
Shortly after my parents left Chris' parents came for a quick visit. His mom stays in a hotel when she comes and it's really the highlight of the kids visit. They get to go and stay with Granny in her Hotel-house as L calls it and swim in the pool. We went to the movies, hung out, BBQ'd and helped Robyn and Johnathan move into their new house. Oh and don't for get the shopping! Shopping was done with both sets of parents and my teenager especially loves that!
Penny and Daryl also brought our nephew B with them. Him and C got along wonderfully and they had a great time sleeping over. They tried a campout on the trampoline but there was a rope that greatly resembled a skull out there so they came in after only camping for 45 minutes! It was really touching how both boys cried when it was time for B to go home. C had such a tender nature and he becomes attached to people so easily. It was the same when E left after his visit in February.
Recently (like last week) the kids had a successful campout on the trampoline. By successful I mean that they stayed out there all night. I myself would consider it a FAIL since they were all eaten alive by mosquito's. Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure.
They were itching to death. We tried every remedy I could google, baking soda, benadryl, hydrocortisone, banana peels, apple cider vinegar, soap, toothpaste, then our friends brought us this laser like machine that worked pretty well. All in all I'd say the toothpaste was the best remedy followed by the laser. Poor kids!
4th of July was also really fun. We went to some friends house and BBQ'd. They are from Bakersfield too so they say BBQ not grill and Chris was very glad about this. Had some good food, lit smoke bombs, saw a fountain of bunnies (story to come), and watched every firework display in town from the top of the SF Corporate South parking garage!

Ok, now for the fountain of bunnies story. Our friends' backyard was really beautiful, grass, trees, flowers etc. What we didn't know was that there were several bunny holes in the grass that were completely camouflaged. One of the 10 children that was running around out there stepped in a bunny hole and about 10-15 baby bunnies came pouring out. Chris said it looked like someone had tossed bunny confetti all over. I heard the screeching bunnies and turned around to see all of them scattering for a hiding place. Bunnies were hopping and screeching, kids were running and screaming, it was a hilarious sight. I think we would have won the $10,000 if we had gotten it on video! Sadly one of the bunnies got a broken leg (no one would confess to stepping on it) and there was drama from my oldest about us NOT taking it home and nursing it back to health!
All in all it was a good day and the kids enjoyed themselves.
Well that about catches up up for now. O and L are enjoying a nice sleepover with Robyn and John and their daughter E. Hope they are having a great time and not running her too ragged!
