Fall Rocks

Today starts our 3 Day Halloween Extravaganza! I love celebrating holidays but it seems they get longer and more intense every year, especially since we live farther away from our families. Halloween started 2 weeks ago when we carved pumpkins with Granny and Papa. Tonight is our church Trunk-or-Treat, tomorrow is C's pre-school party and "cubicle" trick-or-treating at State Farm, and then Up Town's TOT event, then Saturday is the real deal! Can you say diabetic coma? Or maybe just dental bills! I'm sure I won't mind having the candy around for a few days, but as soon as all the good chocolate is gone and all that's left are Tootsie Rolls, and Dum Dum's I'll be ready to throw it all out. Just think next year we'll have one more bag to add to the insanity.

Now that that rant is out of the way, I love fall! I love the cooler weather, I love soup for dinner, I love wearing long sleeves, I love the colors. It's nice to see all the leaves falling and know that no matter how big our trees here get I will NEVER have to rake as many leaves as I did in Shafter! (seriously our trees were HuGe) I know fall is just the precursor to winter and that part kinda stinks, but I still really enjoy it. there's nothing like heading to an orchard and picking out apples and pumpkins and drinking hot apple cider.

This weekend we are going to pick out our Christmas tree. I know that sounds strange. Last year we went and cut our own tree down at a farm. It was freezing cold and the wind was blowing horribly. Well the farm we go to sends out fliers in the fall that you can come and pick your tree out early when it's warmer and all you have to do is come back closer to Christmas and cut it down. I know that means Chris will have to go out in the cold and wind and cut a tree down, but it also means the kids and I can stay in the warm barn and drink hot cocoa and cookies while he does it. This year we (I) am not going to pick such a large tree. Last years 8 ft tall 8ft wide tree that took up 2/3 of our living room was insane and I learned my lesson. I however am hoping there will be NO nest in the tree this time! (see previous post about nests in Christmas trees here)

So enjoy the fall weather, get out and have some cider, and make soup for dinner!

Sounds like a busy couple of days! We are low key around here...I will be "nesting" the next few weeks, or attempting because I will be moving over to my Mom's in a few weeks. Just to many doctor's appointments and such. Hopefully, I will be induced when I am planning to be. Have a fun weekend! The tree sounds awesome!
